"Watercolor Paint Brushes"

My Story

Glad you stopped by! I am originally from the Midwest but I have lived in the Seattle area for many years and happy to call it home. I am an artist and designer. The beauty of nature in the Pacific Northwest inspires my artwork along with adventure trips around the States. I hand carve and print linocuts, paint watercolors and create many drawings. I graduated from the University of Illinois with a painting degree and I received a Master's degree in design from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. Before moving west, I taught at Northern Illinois University.

In art, I am working on a new series of drawings, watercolors and linocut prints called “Drawings from our Edible Gardens.” In design, I have worked on cultural and educational projects for Microsoft, the Experience Music Project, the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle, the Tech Museum in San Jose among others. Awarded and published nationally and internationally, in 2014 my design work for the interactive exhibit "Neighborhoods" received the AAM MUSE Gold Award.

I have a blog Little Sunny Studio (www.littlesunnystudio.blogspot.com) where I study the history, culture and stories of color and experiment with photography. You might see one of my sun illustrations on “The CBS Sunday Morning Show.” My artwork helps support the Arbor Day Foundation, Seattle Tilth and the King County Libraries.
